We will be giving out water to the hot shoppers or anyone attending the Littleton Festival. If anyone in the church would like to help, come on out around 9 am and help us set up and pass out water. Summer is almost gone, grandchildren are going back to school and the summer weekend visitors are back to work……..It is time for gathering with friends, enjoying wonderful food while getting to know each other better. In other words it is time for Dining To Meet You……..There will be a signup in the Narthex beginning August 24th and on September 15th the names will be drawn and groups will be formed. The groups will be made up of eight people (couples, singles) and will have 6 months to hold four dinners. The host provides the beverages and main course, each of the other three couples will bring and appetizer or salad or dessert. This is a great way to get to know each other.
As part of our on-going support of Vaughan Elementary School, we have helped stock their uniform closet for several years. If you are shopping and want to purchase a shirt or pants to donate, they will be put to good use. Their grades are 4 years old- 5th grade so any sizes can be used....girls or boys. Golf type shirts in burgundy, navy or black and khaki , black, or navy pants are acceptable. They also need belts (only black or brown) , underwear and socks for boys and girls. Please drop these off in the church office.
Thank you so much to all who provided sandwiches, salads, and deserts for the staff at Vaughan Elementary School today, and thanks to all that helped serve at the school. The food was great and the staff really appreciated a lunch break with delicious food. GWOH at work!
One of Lakeside's community outreach programs is a home meal delivery program that we do with Northampton County. It works like Meals on Wheels at a local level. The entire process takes 15-20 minutes and requires no special equipment, no extensive training or heavy lifting. Lakeside does the meal delivery on Tuesday. What is involved is meeting the County van at noon at the Community Center at the corner of River Road and Hwy 46. There you will pick up 4-7 prepackaged meals (hot and cold items) and deliver them to the very friendly and grateful program clients. All of them are within 5 minutes of the Community Center. With a full compliment of volunteers working in rotation you will only be asked to do it once every 6-8 weeks. We have an urgent need for a few more volunteers. Especially for those living in Northampton County. If you are willing to get involved or want more information please contact Scott Miller.
The Kairos Prison Ministry at Sussex II State Prison in Waverly, VA is starting up again this fall. Kairos is a 4 day program inside the prison patterned after Cursillo and Matthew 25:34-45 and takes the love and hope of Christ into a place that typically has very little hope or love. The Kairos team is in need of your prayers, cookies, and any men volunteers that would like to serve on the inside team. Walt Burns is leading the team and needs to provide 100 dozen cookies as part of the program. Lakeside’s support in the past has been awesome and your continued support will be greatly appreciated. The first team building session is Saturday, September 7th in Williamsburg with subsequent sessions on September 21st, October 5th, and October 19th. The four days inside the prison are scheduled for October 24th—27th.

Below you will see picture of the instillation and the completed project. The shelf units were completed by LLC a few years ago. Great work guys! You did a great job. Thanks for you service to our church and our town!

A Congregational Meeting was held on Sunday, July 14 to vote on the recommendation from the Congregation Council to hire an architect for the new building that will house a fellowship hall, restrooms, 3 classrooms, a kitchen and pantry, storage, and a food program room. John Krysa presented the findings of the Vision 20/20 Committee and the preliminary drawings. After discussion, the congregation voted overwhelmingly in favor of the proposal. The Congregation Council appreciates the many hours spent and the research conducted by the Vision 20/20 Committee.
